It can be done in a seminar where you put them into pairs and\/or the odd trio. Give them time to work at it, maybe prompt them to shift from one phase to the next, and be sure to leave space to share their answers at the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s a good idea to drop into the conversations they are having, because a) they can need some help, b) they can be reluctant to share their best examples, and c) even when they do share they can sometimes leave out their best insights, so you can help prompt those.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Frankly, in our experience, students do struggle with this exercise. They tend to produce pretty poor results without quite a bit of help. The instructions to try to give a lot of detailed hints for them on how to do better, but it can be really helpful for you to demonstrate one of these types of interviews on a volunteer to the whole class.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This exercise asks them to do a laddering exercise.
