  • Emotions don’t operate in words, but are part of the way our brains try to regulate our behaviour
    • They respond to things in our environment, and direct us towards generally appropriate behaviour patterns, such as exploring or escaping
  • Emotions affect our minds and our bodies.
  • Emotions are partly regulated by bacteria in our intestines
  • There are some general patterns with our emotions that can affect our consupmtion
    • Law of Concern – our emotions tend to be about things
    • Law of Apparent Reality – things we have emotions about tend to feel vividly real
    • Law of Closure – we tend to make very certain evaluations of things that we have strong feelings about
    • Law of Lightest Load – we tend to try to maintain good moods, and repair negative ones
