Chapter 5 – Emotions

Everyone knows what emotions are... right?

Can you listen to your head and your heart at the same time?

Can you not?

What are emtions? A quick crash course

Organizing principles

  • Four yellow balls against a plain grey background. Each has a different emoji face (sad, smiling, angry, scared). The smiley one is most in focus

Sometimes the thing you are buying is a feeling... or a mix of feelings
  • Two boys playing in a light living room with a toy tent and stacked books in the background. One boy is sitting, smiling, on a toy car, steering it, while the other is behind the car and leaning forward almost into a crouch to push it quickly.

Our emotions can tell us what to do, or suggest to us important things about the shape of the world...…
  • A man and a woman sitting at a kitchen table appearing glum, and surrounded by alcohol (there is a wall of bottles behind them, and there is a wine glass in front of the woman, and a tumbler in the man's hand). The man is wearing a suit with no tie and undone shirt button and is looking sadly past the women who is wearing a beige blouse and has her head in her hands

Sometimes we want to change our emotions, not listen to them.
